Post Database Crash Issues

When the database server started to act up we dumped the database to prevent us from reverting to a backup that was 12 hours older. The only fear was of course that some of the data had already gone missing or corrupt.

Since the backup looked solid enough we've decided to get the site up again with the last minute backup. At this moment however some nasty issues has surfaced.

Besides the last minute data we lost because of what was done at the site after the backup, here's what we know:

Some items now contain garble (#^%!) instead of '.
Some comments have gone missing.
The buddylist doesn't behave like it should and lists all online members as your buddies.
The inboxes have gone empty and although the system indicates you have a new messages, your inbox always appears empty.

In contrary to the buzz, these things do seem to work:

Smiley and UBB code popups.
Uploading and linking images for an artwork item

Since it's weekend (ugh I _know_ but we're only human too), I'm not sure when these issues will be addressed.

Martijn has fixed the message inboxes so you should all have your messages again. Messages send while the content of the inboxes wasn't visible have probably not arrived. Use the message as little as possible until we've inspected the problems more closely this monday.

I restored the old buddylists so it should be working fine now. The newly added buddies are gone however.

Is there a way to export our messages so that we can back them up ourselves?
